Canadian Tire Atoms Split First Two Games of OMHA Playdowns
The CTC Atoms opened their OMHA Playdowns against the Walkerton Capitals on the weekend and came away with a win and a loss after the first two games.

The local boys started on the road Fri night in Walkerton and were defeated 3-2 by the Capitals. The Kinucks came out tentatively and played a passive two and a half periods before turning on the jets half way through the third. With Walkerton holding a 3-1 lead going into the frame, it was too little too late as the Capitals hung on for the 3-2 victory. This was a game of inches as despite not playing their best, the Kincardine squad did get some shots off and rang two off the posts and one off the crossbar which a fraction the other way could have evened this match. Both Kinucks goals were scored by Jordan Moulton and assisted by Carson Fletcher. Gordie Réaume made some big saves in the Kincardine net to keep this game close.

The second game of the best of five series was played Sunday night at the Davidson Centre. The crowd was on edge, not wanting to see the home side go down two games in the series.  The Canadian Tire boys ensured this didn’t happen as they came out flying and played aggressively right out of the gates to register a 4-0 win, scoring two in the first and two in the third to seal the deal. Nolan MacKinnon and Jordan Moulton were working well together as Nolan notched two tallies, one in the first and one in the third, with Jordan assisting on both and Mitch Pyke getting an assist on Nolan’s second.  Cody McLelland found the back of the net in the first, assisted by Jordan Beisel and Darcy Scott and Jordan Moulton rounded out the scoring with a minute and a half to go in the game, assisted by Jordan Beisel and Nolan MacKinnon. Ryan Tanner got the start between the pipes and was sharp when called upon, especially on a huge stop on a break-away in the second with the Kinucks holding on to a 2-0 lead.

Game three of the series is Wed night in Kincardine @ 6:30PM.
