Win, Win, Win for Atom Kinucks
The Canadian Tire sponsored Kincardine Atom Kinucks found themselves with a busy week of league games, having just been knocked out of the Tillsonburg Tournament at the semi-final stage, on the previous weekend.

First up would be the Listowel Cyclones who always seem to produce excellent hockey teams. With an excellent tournament performance behind them, the Kinucks would take to the ice with their music intro blasting, full of confidence. However, what transpired in the first period was a little flat, to be totally honest. The Kinucks did have a 1-0 lead at the break, but there level of effort / forechecking wasn't quite what it had been during the weekend prior.

That said, Kincardine would somehow find their feet in the second period and cruise into a 6-0 lead, early in the third. The Kinucks coaching staff of MacTavish, Arnold and Wainwright have been trying to instill the importance of passing into this young team. The game would show some brilliant flashes of this passing game, with outstanding assists going to Noah Swann on a Carson Fletcher goal, Cam Fletcher on a Cody McLelland goal and Sam MacTavish on a Quinton Pagé goal, to name but a few.

Overall the scoring would be; Noah Swann (2+2), Cody McLelland (2+1), Carson Fletcher, Quinton Pagé and Casey Beisel would pick up her first goal of the season. The remaining assists would be allocated to; Nate Arnold (2), Cam Fletcher (2), Noah Page, Alex Colley-Aquino and Sam MacTavish.

Next up would be the old foe from up the road, the Saugeen Shores Storm! The Kinucks were given specific passing targets / goals for this game and the Storm provided much stiffer opposition than they had a few weeks back. The Kinucks would still run out 6-3 winners in this one.

Nate Arnold would open the scoring for the Kinucks and himself, with his first goal of the season. Carson Fletcher (2+1), Cody McLelland (1+1), Noah Swann and Quinton Pagé would all find the net. The remaining assists went to: Cam Fletcher (2), Alex Colley-Aquino and Sam MacTavish.

Finally, a busy two weeks of hockey was wrapped up when the Kinucks made a visit to play the Listowel Cyclones. This game was expected to be much tougher, on home ice, than the previous encounter. This suspicion was proven to be correct, in a hard fought game.

Again, Noah Swann would turn up with his 'A' game, and provide a blistering 4+2 performance as the Kinucks ran out 6-4 winners. The other goals were scored by wingers Quinton Pagé (1+1) and Cam Fletcher (1+2). The defensive quartet of Stevenson, Houghton, Page and Arnold, in front of goalie Ryan Tanner, proved to be as reliable as ever. In fact both Nate Arnold and Jared Houghton would pick up assists, as well as the hard skating winger Alex Colley-Aquino.

Overall it was a good couple of weeks of hockey, wher the kids certainly learned a lot. The Canadian Tire sponsored Kincardine Atom Kinucks continue to look strong, as the Regional Silverstick looms on the horizon, in the not too distant future! Let's hope they enjoy the experience and make a good account of themselves..
