Rough Waters for Sailors against Kinucks.
Kincardine Kinucks 11 - Goderich Sailors 0

The Atom Rep, Canadian Tire sponsored Kincardine Kinucks took a trip down to Goderich on Friday night, looking to extend their impressive record and cement their top spot in Group 1 of the WOAA standings.

The Kinucks wouldn't disappoint against the Sailors from Goderich, as they cruised into a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period. Goals came courtesy of Carson 'turbo Teddy' Fletcher, Quinton Pagé and Noah Swann.

The second period didn't pan out quite as smoothly, when the Kinucks ran into a little penalty trouble, with both Noah Swann and Cody McLelland getting a couple of minutes each. To get through an extended time of shorthanded play, the Kinucks would rely upon their steady defensive quartet of Noah Page, Holden Stevenson, Jared Houghton and Nate Arnold. Also, not forgetting the ever-reliable Ryan Tanner in net for Kincardine.

At the start of the third period the Kinucks still held onto their 3-0 lead. However, Kincardine would step it up a gear in the third, leaving Goderich a little shell-shocked as they ran away with a comprehensive 11-0 win. Credit to the Goderich Sailors who continued to skate hard, but found difficult against a talent laden Kincardine Kinucks, as time wore on. One member of the Kincardine team that didn't see the game out to completion, was steady D-man Nate Arnold. Having taken a nasty knock to the head, Arnold was able to make it back to the bench under his own steam, but he would not be seen on the ice for the remainder of the third period.

It's sometimes a little difficult to watch any team subjected to such a score line. However, the Kinucks certainly kept a firm grip of top spot, with eight wins in nine games. The Kincardine goals and assists were supplied by: Noah Swann (4+2), Quinton Pagé (4+2), Carson Fletcher (2 goals), Cam Fletcher (1+1), Alex Colley-Aquino (0+2), Noah Page (0+2), Casey Beisel (0+2), Sam MacTavish (0+1), Holden Stevenson (0+1) and Jared Houghton (0+1).

It's early days and the kids need to keep their feet on the ground, but these Kincardine players are certainly keen to commence the Regional Silverstick Tournament, in a few weeks time.
