MTC Computer Atom LL1 Kinucks at Mitchell
On Saturday Nov. 15 the Kincardine MTC Computer Atom LL1 Kinucks travelled to Mitchell hoping to earn their first win of the season.  Things got off to a bad start, as one player inadvertently left his equipment back in Kincardine.  Good sportsmanship prevailed however, as a Mitchell family provided their son's equipment and no time was missed by the player.  Some spirited pre-game speeches from the coaching staff left the players determined to put forward a good effort.

Kincardine got off to a good start, dominating territorial play in the first few minutes, with near misses from Charlie Elwood and Mitchell Hackett.  However, Mitchell's Ben Medhurst managed to sneak behind the defence for a clear break, but goaltender Nathan Desmond mad a big save.  This led to a period of sustained pressure from Mitchell that resulted in a goal from Basil Voros from the right side and another on a crisp one-timer by Ryan Hubbard from Andreas Harmer to give Mitchell a 2-0 lead at the end of the 1st.
The 2nd period started with end-to-end action as first Lucas Watson broke in free for Kincardine but just missed, then Ryan Hubbard broke loose for a break the other way but Nathan D. held his ground again making a big save.  On a penalty kill later in the period Kincardine was looking good as Liam Hunter and Charlie Elwood took turns forcing Mitchell back into their own zone while Isaiah Wencel and Victor Cox held the line.  Mitchell was eventually able to break out and send Logan Nugent in alone forcing Nathan to make another key stop, but the puck sprung loose from the ensuing scramble allowing Owen McKenzie an easy tap-in for a power-play goal.  Mitchell kept up the attack and a nice 2 way passing play resulted in the 4th Mitchell goal.  More end-to-end action followed but the MTC gang just couldn't find a way to finish their chances around the net with Kole Price, Bryan Nicholson and Thomas Ostrowski all just missing scoring chances.  Late in the period, Ryan Hubbard broke in free from blue line and snuck one in on the short side to give Mitchell a 5-0 lead at the end of the 2nd.
Mitchell poured on the pressure to start the 3rd but the defence held strong led by Owen Kirk and Adam Nasime.  After all this a strange bounce left the puck in front of an open side of the net allowing Basil Voros to tap in his 2nd of the game.  MTC began to show a little life after this with some sustained pressure as Kaiden Ford and Thomas O. held the puck in at the line.  The pressure continued as Isaiah W. and Victor C. both snuck in to try to press for a goal, but when the puck got behind them Keagan Hunt snatched it up and went in alone and was just able to get it past Nathan for the last Mitchell goal.  MTC was trying desperately to break the Mitchell shutout when Mitch Hackett broke away in the dying seconds but was  thwarted by Brennan Vanderkaylen to save his shutout.
Following this disappointing loss, the MTC Atoms will be looking to capitalize better on their offensive zone pressure as they search to break into the win column.
