TCDMHA and Saugeen Shores Storm
The Kincardine Novice C Rep team continued their spectacular regular season with two games this weekend, visiting TCDMHA on Saturday and hosting the Saugeen Shores Storm on Sunday. Alyssa Collins would be between the pipes this weekend, as Goalie Chloe Kirkconnell was taking a well-earned winter vacation with her family.

Saturday was a beautiful day to take a drive to Desboro. Amidst a January thaw, the Girls were full of spunk and ready for their game. After the regular team chirping concluded, the Girls would be ready to take the ice. In the first period, Emma MacDonald would notch the first goal of the game assisted by Sadie White. Just a few seconds later, Norah Gratto would bring it a second, with an assist by Gabby Garneau. In the second period, only one goal would be scored, which would bring the score to 3-0 for the Kinucks. The third period would see a fair bit of back and forth on the ice as both teams dug and passed, but Makayla Fyke would score the final goal of the game on a nice breakaway. Final score 4:0. Great game, Kinucks!

On Sunday, the Girls hosted the Saugeen Shores Storm at the Davidson Center. Like yesterday, there would be a fair bit of play back and forth on the ice, but the Girls would work well together to keep possession of the puck. In the first period, the play went from end-to-end. There were a number of chances at each end, but the defense on each side would pose a formidable obstacle to any goals. With just a few minutes left in the first, Forward Parker Talbot took a chance at a breakaway in the Kinuck’s end and Makayla Fyke would be in perfect position to accept a past for the first goal of Saturday’s game. The second period would be much of the same, only this time there would be a few more shots on goal on each end. The Girls would hold their lines, and in this second period an opportunity would open up for Sadie White to catch a nice rebound offered by Parker Talbot to score the Team’s second goal. In the third period, both teams found bursts of energy and kept the fans entertained. Kayla Rumbold, Defense for the Kinucks, would catch a nice breakaway for the Kinuck’s third goal; Parker Talbot notch the games fourth goal with an assist from Sophie Rock, and the final goal would come from Gabby Garneau with an assist from Norah Gratto. Final score 5:0.

A special thanks this weekend to Alyssa Collins as she stepped outside of her regular role on Defense to fill in as Goalie. Great job, Kiddo. You had a job to do this weekend and you did it so very well. There may be a couple of fans in the stands with shortened nailbeds, but you did the Team proud.
