Owen Sound Ice Hawks and TCDMHA
The Kincardine Novice C CRG team made fans proud again this weekend, showing skills they continue to build in practice and in their tournament play. This weekend’s games would see the Girls travelling to Owen Sound on Saturday, and hosting a game at the Tiverton Arena on Sunday.

The January thaw continuing, Saturday provided a beautiful day for a drive once again. The Owen Sound Ice Hawks hosted the Kinucks at the JMRRC. What a beautiful facility they have in Owen Sound! Fans felt spoiled in the comfortable temperatures and seating behind and above the goal, and settled in to watch the Kinucks play. In the first period, Gabby Garneau would score a few minutes in with an assist from Parker Talbot. Moments later, a second goal would ring in for the Kinucks, this time from Parker, assisted by Gabby and Sadie White. Again this weekend, the defense on both sides would keep the puck moving back and forth between the teams; there were a lot of opportunities taken with active blocks progressing to intentful passes to create plays. In the second period, Parker Talbot would score with an assist from Emma MacDonald, and then Gabby Garneau would score with an assist from Parker Talbot. In the third period, it was the Kinucks Defensive Line that would steal the show with some assertive game play to control the puck. Kayla Rumbold would be at the center of a long-play that forced some fancy stick work and hard skating. After a long play that would run end-to-end, Kayla would catch that breakaway and, pulling her signature move, lifted the puck to score for the Kinucks! The game was not over, however, and the lines would run hard looking for a final goal. One last time, with seconds to spare, Marley Dalcourt would evade a couple of Owen Sound defenders and break out down the right wing and score the final goal for Kinucks on this game. Fabulous game today, Kinucks! Final score: 6:0.

On Sunday, the Girls would host TCDMHA at the Tiverton Arena. The Girls worked really well today, showcasing some exemplary passing plays up and down the ice. Emma MacDonald would score so early in the first, with an assist from Sophie Rock, that fans had barely settled in their seats. Shortly after, Fans would jeer as Parker Talbot notched the games second goal, with assists from Gabby Garneau and Alyssa Collins. In the second period, Norah Gratto would score early with an assist from Marley Dalcourt, and would score again, this time with assists from Sophie Rock and Emma MacDonald. Parker Talbot would net the game’s 5th goal with an assist from Makayla Fyke. Lilly Pace then broke away for the Girl’s 6th. Emma would also grab an opportunity at another goal with assists from Sadie White and Kayla Rumbold. The Girl’s were certainly on fire today. In the third period, Parker Talbot would score with an assist from Aera Armstrong, and the final goal would come from Makayla Fyke with assists from Parker Talbot and Lilly Pace. Final score: 9:0.

A special shout-out to Gabby Garneau, Parker Talbot, and Makayla Fyke this weekend. There were several plays that required each of them to be at the ready and involved a ton of passing. Great job seeing the plays and the opportunities generated, and trusting each other through the progressions! Congratulations on another great weekend, Kinucks!
