Game against Saugeen Shores
Buh-bye January thaw; hello Winter 2017.  A slight toss-up Sunday morning on whether to break out the skates or the toboggans, the Girls travelled to Southampton this weekend to play Saugeen Shores.   Hockey first, hills later.

The game felt like one of the fastest on record.  The girls worked hard to maintain control over the puck and the Saugeen Shores Storm didn’t make it easy.  While about ¾ of the play took place in the Storm’s end, it was difficult to get a shot on net and the Goal Tender for the Storm didn’t let much past her.  This game gave the Girls a great opportunity to force plays, and pull out so many of the skills they have been working on in practice.  The Girls had to dig hard at times, and exercise careful control over the puck to maintain control, but they did well and had fun.

The first period saw heavy play in the Storm’s end with a fair bit of congestion around the puck.  It was late in the period when Parker Talbot would catch a nice breakaway and score the first goal for the Kinucks.  Moments later, Sophie Rock would score the game’s second goal with an assist from Gabby Garneau.

The second period didn’t move the scoreboard for either team, but the play would be active once again.  Fans were thrilled with the Girls’ momentum during this period.  Passing, back-checking, and stick-handling were all on point in this game.

The third period would again present with a fair bit of effort at maintaining control, but the Kinucks would work together tirelessly.  Shortly into the third, Makayla Fyke would score with an assist from Gabby Garneau on a play from the center line.  With a bit more back-and-forth, Kinuck Parker Talbot would catch one last opportunity for the game’s 4th goal with an assist from Sadie White.  The last half of the third, while without a goal, was incredibly exciting to watch.  The stamina the Girls have during the games is impressive; worked relentlessly the entire game using the skills they’ve worked so hard on this year.

Great game, Kinucks!!
