Game 8 had the Girls hosting Walkerton in
Kincardine at the Davidson Center in the final game of the play-down series.
Another high-spirited evening for both the Kinucks and the Capitals, the Kinucks worked hard to finish the series undefeated, and the Capitals returned each effort, attempting to finish ahead on the scoreboard. All players were full of grit, skating with agility, passing with each opportunity, and taking shot after shot on net.
There were several unlucky bumps and catches with the puck striking the edges of the net on several occasions.
In a game quite reminiscent of Monday’s game in Walkerton it wasn’t until the third period that an opportunity would open up at the Capitals net. Makayla Fyke would find the back of the net with an assist from Aera Armstrong. Fans cheered loudly, seeing a glimmer of the game’s finish. The Kinucks would continue to work hard in the third period, fighting for an elusive second goal. Parker Talbot, not wanting to end the season without show-casing just how incredible her stick-handling is, scored from behind the net – if you would believe that – and Fans would go wild! Thank goodness Makayla Fyke had her skates planted firmly in just the right spot.. Well done, Girls! This game goes to show, anything can happen.
Well girls, on to Provincials you go!!
Final score: 2-0.
