Atom LL2 Don't Get Many Breaks
Kincardine Atom LL2 didn't get many bounces going their way in a loss to Hanover on 18Jan2009.

Kincardine had the same lineup for this game as they did the previous day against Lucknow.  They were facing a Hanover team with 3 full lines.  Kincardine once again concentrated on their defensive play limiting Hanover's chances in the Kincardine end.  Hanover finally broke through with 3 minutes to go in the first and scored.  Kincardine had a chance to even the score in the dying seconds of the first period when Hogan (#11) passed the puck out of the corner to Mackenzie (#30) in front of the net, who just missed.

In the second, the play went back and forth again with no scoring until 2.5 minutes left when Hanover managed to take advantage of a Kincardine defensive let-down that resulted in an unassisted breakaway goal.  Kincardine responded almost immediately off the face-off when Alex (#8) cleared the puck up the middle.  Hogan (#11) picked it up and split the Hanover defence, deking the goalie to bring Kincardine back to within one.  However, Hanover added the insurance marker with 8 seconds remaining in the period.  The score at the end of the second was 1-3 for Hanover.

The third period saw Hanover score another two goals early as Kincardine let up for just a little while.  Kincardine then got themselves together and pressed Hanover.  Mackenzie (#30) had another 2 good chances in front of the Hanover net due to her good positioning.  Chris (#15) made many heads up passes to Virat (#4) in the middle and the Rocket (#2) on the wing.  Brendan (#10) was very strong along the boards at the Hanover blueline, keeping the puck in the offensive zone, and in the defensive end clearing the puck out.  Michael (#6) was well placed in front of the Hanover net but never got a good bounce.  Ryan (#16) did well defensively covering the point and clearing the zone.  Finally, Alex (#1) once again made several spectacular stops to keep Kincardine in the game until the third period.  The final score was 1-5 for Hanover.
