Atom LL2 Rematch with LL1
Kincardine Atom LL2 played their second game against LL1 on 07Feb2009, eager to improve on their previous result.

Once again, the game pitting the two Kincardine teams got off at a furious pace, with both teams exchanging scoring opportunities. Excellent goal tending by both Alex (#1) and Rahul kept the puck out of the net.  LL2 broke the deadlock midway through the first period to take the lead when Ryan (#16) chipped the puck out of the LL2 end.  Virat (#4) picked up the puck and broke through the LL1 defence, making a nice deke for the first goal.  LL1 replied minutes later when Andrew took the puck end to end, finishing with a shot high to the blocker side to tie the game.  The first period ended even at one.

LL2 continued to hold LL1 at bay in the second period.  Tenacious forechecking and backchecking by LL2 forwards prevented any LL1 end to end rushes.  Mackenzie (#30) managed to knock the puck lose in LL1's end for a chance at net.  Half way through the second period, LL1's Andrew broke free again to put another one in, making the score at the end of the second 2-1.

Early in the third period, Andrew broke free again.  Brendan (#10) steered him toward the corner, but another powerful shot blocker side high found its way into the net for the natural hat trick to give LL1 a 3-1 lead.  LL2 didn't quit and minutes later, Hogan (#11) went coast to coast finishing with a shot stick side high that found its mark.  LL2 continued to press, with Chris (#15) making great passes up the middle to spring LL2 forwards.  Alex (#7) did a good job covering for his defensive partner.  Ultimately the lack of skaters - seven - caught up with LL2 as they ran out of gas.  LL1's Alex finished the scoring on a play from Hayley and Georgia to make the final score 2-4 in favour of LL1.  LL2 accomplished their goal of improving on their previous result and keeping the result in doubt right down to the end of the game.
