Kincardine LL2 Don't Keep Momentum Going
Kincardine LL2 were on the road again to Mildmay on Sunday 08Mar2009.  This was the team's fourth game in seven days, and energy levels were getting low.

Kincardine came out with the same aggressive puck pursuit that they had demonstrated in the last two games.  Mackenzie (#30) chased after the puck in the Mildmay end, causing turnovers on more than one occasion.  The result was that for the first period and a half the play was evenly distributed, with Kincardine getting as many chances as Mildmay.  Alex (#7) was well positioned in front of Kincardine's net to cover the Mildmay forwards and clear the puck.  Rachit (#2) worked hard to clear the puck out of the zone and made a couple of good rushes into the Mildmay zone.  Midway through the second period, Kincardine started to pull back and no longer pursue the puck with as much energy.  Mildmay did not let up taking the play to Kincardine.  Two goals were scored in less than a minute in the last half of the second period, making the score 2-0 going into the third period.  Kincardine didn't quit.  Virat (#4) had two breakaways before the end of the period, one stopped by the Mildmay goalie, the other ringing off the post.

Chris (#15) was solid on defence, breaking up the Mildmay attack on numerous occasions.  Alex (#1) came up with big saves to keep the game close in the third period, giving Kincardine a chance for a come back.  Ryan (#16) positioned himself in the slot and received a centring pass from Virat (#4) that was stopped point blank by the Mildmay goalie.  Right after Kincardine's chance, Mildmay took the puck the other way and scored halfway through the third period.  Kincardine showed some life again late in the game as Hogan (#11) carried the puck from the Kincardine blueline, beating a defender to the inside and getting a shot at net.  Michael (#6) went hard to the net and was rewarded with a rebound in the slot, putting it into the top stick side corner making the score 3-1.  Kincardine continued to press, but could not find the net.  In the dying seconds of the game, a Mildmay centring pass from the corner deflected off Brendan's (#10) skate while he was doing a good job covering the Mildmay player in the slot.  The puck found it's way off the post and into the Kincardine net to make the final score 4-1 for Mildmay.
