Kincardine Hair Connection Atom LL1 Inconsistent Play vs Ripley
Kincardine Hair Connection Atom LL1 travelled to Ripley on Saturday, 27Feb2010.  Previous encounters with Ripley had not gone well, so there was lots of room to improve results.

Kincardine came out strong in the first period.  The puck flew up and down the ice.  Ariel, #30, had once again stepped into the role of goalie and did an admirable job of facing down Ripley shooters.  The trio of Brendan (#10), Cameron (#6) and Martin (#2) on defense kept shooters wide, giving them bad angles for shots at net.  The line of Ryan (#16) at centre with Michael (#13) and Isaiah (#5) provided persistent forechecking.  At the five minute mark, Kincardine let up once again, allowing Ripley to score a goal.  Kincardine tried to bounce back when Darian (#3) tried a wrap-around attempt with Isaac (#9) on the doorstep banging away at the rebound.  Immediately after that opportunity, Ripley scored again and then with the seconds winding down scored a final time with only 6 seconds left in the period to go up 0-3.

The second period saw Kincardine hit the ice with renewed enthusiasm.  Darian’s (#3) pass out from behind the net into the slot went right through Isaac’s (#9) legs.  The hard work finally paid off when Darian (#3) dug the puck out of the corner, made a nice move around the defenceman and then hammered the puck straight up off the crossbar and into the net.  Kincardine continued to press when Payton (#8) caused a turnover on a good forecheck deep in Ripley’s end.  Darian (#3) picked up the puck and got a nice shot at net.  The second period ended 1-3.

The third period continued with Kincardine pressing to narrow the gap.  Isaiah (#5) intercepted the puck in the slot falling down in the process.  He then managed to whip it backward over to Michael(#`3) a la Ovetchkin.  Michael’s shot went just wide.  A let up by Kincardine for less than a minute lead to 2 Ripley goals.   Isaiah (#5) then got the puck out of the corner, taking it to the net for a shot.  Darian (#3) followed up and stuffed the rebound home to make the score 2-5.  Once again, Ripley countered with another 2 quick goals to make the final score 2-7.
