vs Mitchell
The Canadian Tire Atom Reps hosted rivals Mitchell on Saturday at the Davidson Centre. The Kinucks were fired up and came out shooting. Bradley Pickett sniped a shot past the Meteor’s goalie just 30 seconds into the game. Assising on the goal was Rhys Vollmer and Emma Swift. This was the started they needed and goalie Jamie Brock held off the returning attack by Mitchell through the first period.

With Kincardine leading 1-0 into the second, defensemen Danny Skinner fired a shot top corner only to be robbed by the Meteor’s goalie. This save would foreshadow the rest of game as Kincardine, with many good scoring chances, would not score again. Mitchell tied the game 1-1 towards the end of second.

Despite being tied going into the third, Coach McDonald was pleased with teams first two periods as the young Kinucks showed they can play hard two-way hockey. Mitchell picked up steam in the third and the strong goaltending of Brock was not enough and the Meteors scored three unanswered goals going on to win 4-1.

Call up Austyn MacArthur had a strong game with a couple of good scoring chances while Jake Colley showed good transfer from practice to game as he battled along the boards every shift.

The Atoms will travel to Goderich next Saturday to battle the Sailors.
