Novice LL2, 2009-2010 (Kincardine Minor Hockey Association)

The Kincardine Cable LL2 squad finished the year on a high note, despite a 4-3 overtime loss to their chippy foes from Drayton.  The team had strong games from all of its forwards; Spence, Laura, Ethan (all with one goal apiece) along with their linemates Joanne, Chloe, Georgia and Matt.  

Excitement was in the air this past Saturday as the Kincardine Cable TV Novice LL2 prepared to meet their evenly matched opponents (and friends!), the Kincardine Novice LL1 team.  Friends said a quick hello to each other at the Davidson center before putting on their game faces – for the next hour, friends were to become rivals.

It was an early morning drive that brought the Kincardine Cable TV Novice team to Tara on Saturday January 23rd.  The first game opponent was the Chatsworth Rebels.  Our players were fresh and strong and played a great game of hockey.  Marcelle Platt has been proving herself a strong defensive player as were Ethan Petrie and Georgia Tanner.  Kevin Coady had a strong shot on net from the blue line.  Matthew Walton kept the pressure on with another shot aimed straight between the pipes.  We could not seem to find the hole to get the puck past the goalie.  Finally, right at the end of the first ...

It was a crisp Sunday morning as the Kincardine Cable T.V. Novice team prepared to meet their well-matched rivals from Teeswater. There was a nervous energy in the change room as the excitement started to build. Our fearless goalie, Trent Courtney, was nicely warmed up as he had just finished the goalie clinic not minutes before the game started. The ice glistened, unblemished, as the Zamboni finished up and our Novice squad skated onto the ice, ready and waiting.

A spirited Kincardine Novice LL2 team welcomed the Olympic torch to town.  The gang convened at the local NA Engineering Associates office where nutritious refreshments were enjoyed by all.  Then, it was out to Queen Street to welcome the torch bearers as they jogged past.  We were strategically located at a torch passing locale and were able to get our photo with the next marathoner. Well done kids!  Here's to Canadian Sport and wishing our athletes well in Vancouver 2010!
