Kincardine Kinucks Atom Rep team Delayed
Friday October 14th, the Canadian Tire Atom rep team were ready to start a new season with their first game at Tiverton arena against Hanover, however after warm up, a slight delay of 35 minutes slowed the eager boys and girls down.

That was short lived because when the puck was dropped we came out flying. Zach flew down the wing and fired a high wrister and the Hanover goalie made a great save. Back in our end Everett came up big with a big glove save of his own. With the coaches juggling lines and the kids flying up and down the ice it finally paid off. Ryan and Liam passed with great precision and Brennan rushing from defence, found Zach, who rushed in and fired a snapper which found it’s way past the goal line, Kinucks 1-0. This inspired the players and with Mattie and Travis going up the wing, Hanover tripped them up and got a late penalty. The first period ending with us on the powerplay and the score 1-0. The power play unit of Carson, Kaleb, Griffin, Liam and Brody were working and had lots of chances but no goal. Hanover dodged a bullet, but we weren’t stopping there, Liam and Aylssa went past the Hanover forwards, were tripped and then Liam fired a wrister off the crossbar on a delayed penalty. On to the powerplay, with Kendan, Ryan and Mattie, lots of chances were zooming at the Hanover goalie , but he stood tall and kept us at bay. After the penalty was killed Hanover mounted a charge and within a couple of minutes managed 2 breakaways that were stonewalled by Everett, standing tall. Back and forth actions saw lots of good passes and shots, especially Alyssa, Ryan,Carson and Travis, who fired the rubber at the shell shocked Hanover goalie, but he kept them all out. The second period came to an end with Kinucks up 1-0. The 3rd started with Liam (Mr. Hustle ) buzzing everywhere the puck was and setting up passes to Brody, Ryan, Kendan Mattie , well the whole team but they were stoned by the goalie. Hanover then turned up the heat and keep Everett busy with shots from the point as well as 2 more breakaways, still Kinucks 1-0. With 3 minutes to go Hanover turned it on and kept buzzing the net, but each time turned away by either Carson, Kaleb, Brennan, or Mattie. At the 1:30 mark of the 3rd Hanover pulled their goalie and Again Everett shut the door and then the wheels of Brennan lit up and he weaved around the opposing team and fired a empty netter at the 1:00 minute mark. Kinucks 2-0. Final score Kincardine 2 – Hanover 0. Great shutout by Everett and a strong start to the season by all.      Written by: Jeff Renaud
