November 5th saw Novice Teams 1 & 4 meet in an exciting contest
1st period was a flurry of action with nothing on the scoreboard for the
first half of the period. Finally #6 Desmond Pitre fed the puck to #8 Cameron
Renaud who broke away from the pack to challenge Goalie Macara Brooks, turning
the first shot on net into the first goal of the game for Team 4 (Cougars).
Team 4 came back to the net a few more times, but #15 Holden Stevenson, and #10
Ben Watson were both denied at the net. Team 4's defense kept the plays moving,
especially #7 Tomas Nancekivell, who kept feeding the puck up to his forwards.
Period 1 ended with a score of 1-0 and looking good for Team
4.
Periods 2 saw some great goaltending by Gordie Reaume, but eventually Team 1 drove the puck in two times, once by # 9 Brock Courtney and the next goal popped into the top left corner by #15 Owen Thorn, with the assist going to #14 Kane Lee, ending an exciting period with a score of 1-2 for Team 1. Third period saw great effort from Team 4's #14 Tainen Stone, #2 Caydence Gibson and #5 Cayden Evans, but the momentum continued for Team 1, as once again Thorn, with the assist from #5 Liam Hunter, then Courtney, with an assist from #8 Ryan Tanner, introduced the puck to the back of the net two more times, for a final score of 1-4 for Team 1. Both teams played remarkably well and showed great sportsmanship and kept their fans on the edges of their seats. Improved skill was evident on both sides of the centre line and all participants should be proud of a game well played.
