Cougars Start the New Year with Two Wins on the Weekend--Jan. 7/8 2012
  Saturday January 7, 2012 –Saugeen Shores  LL1 vs Kincardine Cougars 

Gordie Reaume our full time goalie decided to play forward and scored his first goal of the season in the first period.  Cayden Evans picked up the second goal on a breakaway; both goals were assisted by Holden Stevenson.  Saugeen Shores finished the period with a goal. 

 

The second period started off with a goal by Saugeen Shores to tie the score at 2 a piece, but Cameron Renaud responded with his first of the game assisted again by Holden Stevenson. 

Cameron Renaud scored his second of the game in the third. Saugeen Shores scored a late goal to keep the game close.   The final score was 4-3. 

 

 

Sunday January 8, 2012—Saugeen Shores LL3 vs Kincardine Cougars

Cougars came out fighting in the first period; Cameron Renaud was able to put 4 in the net during the first with help from his teammates especially Desmond Pitre and Tomas Nancekivell who earned assists on the goals.  Saugeen Shores was able to slip one past our goalie in the first.

Second period started with a goal from a breakaway by Saugeen Shores.  Tomas Nancekivell replied 2 minutes later, followed by Cameron’s fifth of the game. Saugeen Shores finished the period with a late goal.

The third period started at 6-3 for the Cougars. Saugeen Shores made it close getting their fourth early in the final period. Saugeen Shores put the pressure on and Gordie Reaume had to make to some great saves to maintain the lead. Cayden Evans, MacKenzie Kuntz and Taylor Carney had to play strong defense to keep the Shores team from scoring. Tomas Nancekivell scored with less than 5 minutes left to secure the win.  The final score was 7-4.
