Kinucks Girls L.L. play hard in tournament
This past weekend the Kinuck midget girls travelled to the fifth annual Kyla Kowalik Memorial Tournament in New Hamburg.

The girls first game, against Twin Centre, was fast paced and evenly matched. An early goal scored by Emily Simpsom and assisted by Sarah Catto in the first period put Kincardine on the scoreboard first. However, Twin Centre came back and scored late in the second period, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Later that day the girls played their second game of the tournament against Wilmot. This game the girls came out sluggish and did not get their feet under them until the second period. However, Wilmot was able to score at the end of the first period and added another empty netter with thirty-five seconds left in the third. Kincardine wasn't able to score and lost 2-0

The next morning, the team played in the quarterfinals against Waterloo. The girls again started off a little slow but after Waterloo scored two quick goals in the first period, they picked it up and the play ended up more in the Waterloo end. As hard as the girls tried, they could not get a puck passed the Waterloo goalie and were kept scoreless. Waterloo added one more goal and defeated Kincardine 3-0.

Megan McDonald played steller in goal all weekend, keeping the Kincardine team in the game and did not allow many shots get past her. Coach Keith and Mike were proud of the way the girls played together and of thier sportsmanship. Great weekend girls!!
