Another win for the Jr Relics
Final score 3-1 for the Jr Relics
The Novice HL #3 Blue team, sponsored by the Kincardine Relics, met up with the Green Machine team (Novice HL #1) on Saturday, March 2nd at the Davidson Centre.  The game turned out to be a great, fast-paced, and exciting match-up.

The Jr Relics came out of the gate with two great shots by Caydence Gibson which were both turned away by the Green goalie.  The 1st period continued this way with the Jr Relics exhibiting their well practiced passing skills resulting in some great shots on Green’s net but being shut out every time.

Alex Colley-Aquino (in the net for the Jr Relics) pulled out a great save with just 2 minutes left on the clock in the 1st period.

The Relics would begin the 2nd period short-handed with Desmond Pitre being called for hooking in the final 30 seconds of the 1st period.   The Jr Relics really pulled together during the penalty kill, with lots of action around the blue net.  The first three minutes of the second period were filled with heavy offensive pressure by the Green Machine with Colley-Aquino saving all kinds of shot, from stuff-ins to rebounds and breakaways.  As always, the Jr Relics defense was right there to get the puck out of their zone.

The second period ended with a great breakaway goalie by the quick and persistent Caydence Gibson.

Gibson started off the third period with a terrific goal from a rebounded shot into the back of the green net. The final 10 minutes saw even more action for Colley-Aquino in the Jr Relics net including a number of great shots by Graeden Colhoun.  After being turned away repeatedly, Colhoun was successful in sneaking a stellar breakaway goal through the legs of Colley-Aquino to bring the score up to 2-1.

With less than a minute to play, Gibson launched one final goal past the green goaltender to bring the score up to 3-1 for the Jr Relics.  That would be the final score for the game, despite one last attempt by the green team’s Tyler Johns that was stoned by Colley-Aquino.

Congratulations to both teams, it was a great game played by all!
