Kincardine Atom Girls Win Gold in St. Thomas
The Kincardine Atom Girls went to St. Thomas on the weekend to compete
in the Panthers tournament.

Their first opponents on Friday afternoon
were Sarnia Lady Sting.  They showed no fear to the bigger centre and
came out feisty winning the game 4-1 with goals going to Claire
Hunsberger (2), Paige Mclelland and Georgia Tanner.  Assists by Brooklyn
MacArthur (3) and Claire Hunsberger.  The MVP of the game was Heidi
Allen for her strong defensive play.  With little time to rest they
faced off against the Lambeth Lancers in the evening and came out on top
3 - 0.  Scoring for Kincardine were Claire Hunsberger (2) and Georgia
Tanner.  Helpers by Aysha Machan (2), Emma Dixon (2) and Kennedy
Farrell.  The MVP of the game was Emma Dixon who held the blue line
firmly for Kincardine and thus created a lot of offensive opportunities.
On Saturday they faced the Ilderton Jets for the toughest competition
they have faced all year.  It was a hard fought 2 - 0 win for Kincardine
who had goals scored by Georgia Tanner and Aysha Machan.  Assists went
to Aysha Machan, Georgia Tanner and Claire Hunsberger.  The MVP of the
game was Marcelle Platt for her outstanding performance between the
pipes.  Sunday morning they were awaited by the Petrolia Oilers who were
coming hot off a win against Lambeth.  Kincardine won 2-1.  Goals were
scored by Georgia Tanner and Jessica Anderson.  Assists by Chloe Pagé,
Reilly Colhoun and MacKenzie Kuntz.  The MVP of the game was Aysha
Machan who picked up 2 minutes in penalties in the game for doing what
she does best; making things difficult for the other team.  There
wouldn't be much rest for the girls as they had to suit up again in the
afternoon for the championship against the Ilderton Jets who were fresh
as they had not played yet that day and slept in their own  beds the
night before.  After three periods of end to end action the score
remained knotted at zero.  Early into the overtime period Claire
Hunsberger put it by the Ilderton net minder to clinch the victory and
the championship for a team that worked hard enough over the weekend to
deserve it.  The Atom Kinuck Girls remain undefeated for the season.
