Lakeside Chevrolet?GM Peewee Girls shut out Owen Sound 3-0!
The evening started out with the girls in awe of the Bayshore Arena!
The large ice suface was a bit intimidating at first sight,
But as our Lakeside Chevrolet/Gm peewee Girls took the ice,Owen Sounds response of "Holy Cow"They're huge!"Gave the girls a boost of confidence.
The 1st period started off with the needing a few adjustments to our passing and movement around the extra space of the ice pad.
Owen Sound came in quick and fast with the first shot of the game but Cassidy Murray denied them a goal!
Aerial Luinstra returned the favour with a breakaway but unfortunatley their goalie was just as determined as Cassidy!
In THe 2nd period the girls worked hard,time and time again our Lakeside Chevrolet/Gm defensive players shut them down!
Great work Dana,Julia,Aerial and Kaeleigh!
At 2:52 left in the second period,a pass from Kaeleigh Heydon,from center ice,skidded pass Alexis through 2 Owen Sound defensive players and their goaliefor the 1st goal of the game.
1 Minute left in the 2nd period and Owen Sound's answer to our goal was a 4 on 1 situation,but Julia stuck to her guns and denied them a scoring chance!
Our 3rd period was just as exciting! The girls showed no sign of fatigue and came on strong!
Most of the time was spent in the Owen Sound zone,a couple times they attempted a scoring chance,but Cassidy and the defense continued to disappoint them.
At 5:54 Aerial Luinstra receives a pass from Julia,weaves through the Owen Sound players with a powerful shot on net,she scores!Assist goes to Julia MaGregor!
Our forwards Alexis,Daniella,Libby,Faith Patricia and Chelsea were relentless on the Owen Sound goalie,continuously firing shots at her until Alexis;s digging finally sinks one in! However the referee lost site of the puck and waves the goal off,
Instead of showing defeat Alexis Whitworth-Bjerg comes back at 1:33 left in the game to make it a 3-0 game,assisted by Faith Catalan and Ariel Luinstra!
Well played Lakeside Chevrolet/Gm Kinucks!
THe team played and worked well together,out-shooting Owen Sound 28-6 ,allowing Cassidy her first Shut Out of the season!
