The ever-improving Kincardine Atom AE Kinucks had a tough weekend ahead of them, which started when they faced the Mt Forest Rams on Friday night. Despite having to fend off a couple of Mt Forest powerplays, while Bailey Pierson and Brock Courtney served their respective penalties, the Kinucks would run out 2-0 winners with goals coming from the in-form Noah Page and Sam MacTavish. Both Bailey Pierson and Lauren Thede would add assists to their own personal totals, in this good start to the weekend.

The next day saw the Kinucks hit the road and travel to Listowel, to take on the Cyclones. This game would be an epic battle, ending in a hard worked 3-3 tie. Just as Jared Petrie had put in a stellar goalie performance, last week against West Grey, this time Johnny Graham would provide the on-looking crowd with an exceptional display. Graham made some excellent saves, but none more than the one on one in the third period, when he gave the Cyclones forward a glimpse of the net, only to take it away, in textbook fashion.

This game’s scoring was started by Brock Courtney. Shortly after a Dakota Condie 2 minute slashing penalty, Jessie Anderson notched her first goal of the season with a blistering wrist shot from the blue line. Not to be out-done, Zack Eybergen did the exact same thing moments later, with his signature bullet wrist shot!

Kinucks scoring against the Cyclones was: Brock Courtney 1+1; Jessica Anderson 1+0; Zack Eybergen 1+0; Carson Boettinger 0+1; Caydence Gibson 0+1.

On Sunday the Kinucks would wrap up the weekend, traveling up to take on their local rivals, the Saugeen Shores Storm. The Storm put up some stiff opposition with their hard working style, but it didn’t stop the Kinucks from taking an early lead.

The game would also have a number of penalties assessed to both teams but, although it was competitive, it was never really a dirty game. These penalties would commence with a clash of two competitive number 7’s. Both the Kinucks Cam Fletcher and the Storm’s Francesca Alpajaro would receive coincidental 2 minute slashing penalties. Carson Boettinger would soon join his Kinucks team mate in the penalty box, when he got 2 minutes for tripping. In amongst the penalties, the game was end to end entertainment.

Shortly after Caydence Gibson had served a two minute body checking penalty for Kincardine, it was further penalties for the Storm that finally allowed the Kinucks to finish this game off. The Kinucks ran away 5-2 winners, with both Dakota Condie and Sam MacTavish picking up 2 goals each.

Kincardine’s scoring against the Storm was: Sam MacTavish 2; Dakota Condie 2; Zack Eybergen 1. Assists were credited to: Carson Boettinger 2; Aiden Berkman; David Ulak; Tomas Nancekivell and Lauren Thede.
