Bill Batten Tournament
     This past weekend the Kincardine Home Hardware Novice Rep Team travelled to Exeter to take part in the Bill Batten Tournament.

     On Saturday morning, the Kinucks started out the weekend with a match against Mitchell. Both teams came out strong and managed to keep each other off of the score board. In the second period the Kinucks scored first with a nice rebound goal by Tyler Johns with an assist from Quinton Page who broke in to set up the play. The third period saw another nice break out goal by Quinton Page to make it 2-0. Mitchell continued to press and managed to score 2 goals in the third period which ended the game in a 2-2 Tie. For their hard work, the kinucks earned 5 points in the standings.

      Later in the afternoon on Saturday, the Kinucks set to the ice to take on Twin Centers. Both teams were evenly matched and it showed by the score. Every time Kincardine scored, Twin centers matched them. In the first period Brandon Bishop scored a fantastic unassisted goal. In the second it was Quinton Page from Jorja Scott and Tyler Johns. Again in the third it was Quinton Page unassisted. With Twin Centers battling back every time we scored the final tally was Kincardine 3 and Twin Centers 3, earning the Kinucks another 5 points for a total of 10.

     Sunday morning came really early with an 8:00 game against the home team, the South Huron Sabres. The Kinucks came out flying in the first period with lots of shots on net, but it was Quinton Page from Dylan Chinnick to open the scoring.  The second period saw lots of action, lots of shots and a goal from the Sabres. Late in the third period it was Quinton Page scoring on a pass from Graeden Colhoun to clinch the

2-1 win for the Kinucks, and with that another 8 points for the team giving them a total of 18.

     With 18 points behind them, they were ranked number 2 behind their rivals from game 1, Mitchell, putting them in position to challenge for the A division championship.

     At 3:00 the Kinucks took to the ice again to face Mitchell. Both teams came out strong, and you could see that they both wanted the win. Mitchell was quick to score in the first period, after that Kincardine took over. The second period saw an outstanding goal from Quinton Page on an assist from Nolan Janes to get the teams tied up and ready for an exciting third period. With play going back and forth, some great shots and some amazing saves, the crowd was going wild. With Just over a minute to go in the game, the Mitchell team took a penalty, giving the Kinucks the chance they needed to finish the game. With some patented fancy footwork, Quinton Page made his way up the ice and buried goal number 2 for the Kinucks. Mitchell tried to fight back for the last minute, but outstanding defensive play kept them off the board. The Kinucks earned the title of Division A Champs!

     All weekend the kincardine Home Hardware Novice rep team came out and worked hard. All of the teams in the tournament were very evenly matched, as shown by all of the scores over the weekend.
