PeeWee Girls HL, 2014-2015 (Kincardine Minor Hockey Association)

The Kinucks had to dig deep as they faced Upper Maitland in Tiverton today. The team was down two coaches, two players and pretty exhausted from the ski trip and practice the day the before. The Kinucks were reminded to skate hard, be aggressive on the puck, and that they needed to work hard with the numbers stacked against them. 

The Kincardine Peewees narrowly escaped snowmageddon and braved the roads to convoy to Exeter for Pink on the rink.  The girls first game against south bruce was cancelled and scored a tie as neither team could arrive to play. The second game was the first defeat of the year and a big lesson for the girls, learning that they are not untouchable.

The Kincardine Peewees were in Teeswater on Sat Dec 20. SBMHA has been the girl’s stiffest competition this year and the girls were all a bit anxious knowing they faced a tough team.  South Bruce struck first finally beating Vana top shelf late in the first.  Both teams battled hard for the puck. The second period saw South Bruce in our end for the majority of the frame, constantly testing Vana making sure she was on her game. Heading into the third the girl’s confidence was shaken but not stirred.

The Kinucks continued to show off their offense during their weekend home and home. Saturday Dec 13th saw the Capitals in our barn first. Prepared to battle the Capitals worked hard to try and give the Kinucks their first loss of the year. Both goalies were to thank for a scoreless first despite many scoring chances by both teams. With Huge assists, Brooklyn C and Hannah gave Brooklyn M the chance to open the flood gates of scoring for the Kinucks.  Chloe quickly followed up, with a beauty of a goal. On Friday Nov 28 the Kinucks were in Tiverton to face TCDMHA.  With Kennedy N placed on the IR , the girls brought number 17 on the ice. The team donned their Movember moustaches and #17 on their face and were ready for a big win for Kennedy.  Despite coming out a bit flat in the first, Paige M lit the spark the girls needed and opened the scoring unassisted with 3 seconds left in the first. The 2nd saw some competition for the girls with hard battles from both teams  in front of both net minders.
