Coach Long had a premonition
Coach Long had a premonition as Jake Colley of the Home Hardware Novice reps scored his first ever goal against the Goderich Sailors

Coach Long had a premonition as Jake Colley of the Home Hardware Novice reps scored his first ever goal against the Goderich Sailors in a 2-2 barn burner. Goderich traveled to the Davidson Centre Thursday night and opened the scoring in the first as a Sailor bowled over Kinuck goalie Jamie Brock.  Brock kept his cool, however, and later made a huge paddle save as he dove across the crease.

At 8:51 of the second period Long’s prediction became reality. Colley, a stay at home defenseman who was moved to left wing to start the game, scored off a rebound from Austyn McArthur. Colley has played goalie or defense over the past two years of novice hockey and took full advantage of the opportunity to score his first goal. After the game Long presented Colley with the puck.

With the game tied 1-1, the Sailors took the lead again early in the third. If not for the tenacious back checking of Kendon Zettle, the Sailors would have led by more than a goal. With some inspiration from their coaches the Little Kinucks kept battling and finally Christopher Coady turned and fired the puck into the corner of the Sailor net. This secured a 2-2 tie. Assists in the game went to Bryce McFadden and Darian Kuz.
