FOILED BY CELLOPHANE!
The Home Hardware Novice Reps Ridgetown tournament was foiled by cellophane as they could manage only two goals all weekend. Although they had a lot of scoring chances it seemed like the net was sealed with cling wrap! Enjoying the great weather of Ridgetown near Chatham, the Kinucks lost the opening game 2-0. Jamie Brock had a solid performance in goal turning away many Wallaceburg opportunities. Darian Kuz had the best chance to score as he wheeled and fired one from in tight.  A goal was not to had, however, and the team went on to more important things….like mini-sticks at the hotel.

The next morning, after Coach McFadden and Bishop solved most of the worlds problems with dads Swift and Colley the night before, the Kinucks faced of with a very powerful team from Kingsville. Again, despite many opportunities Kendon Zettle was the only Kinuck able to score and the team lost 7-1.

The loss was followed with a lunch time outing at the zoo of “Madagascar II.” Freshly motivated, the Kinucks knew they still had a chance to go on as they faced off against favourites Dunnville. Austyn MacArthur was flying up the wing with great speed, but just couldn’t get out of the reach of the Dunnville defence. Dunniville led 2-0 when goal scoring machine Bryce McFadden slotted one top shelf. Just when it looked like Kincardine was changing momentum Dunnville scored a quick one and went on to win the game 5-1. The young novices went to the dressing room with heads down greatly disappointed as their tournament was over.

There was only one way to solve this great misery…one more night in the hotel and a trip to Boston Pizza. And that was that, with a belly full of pizza and mini-sticks in hand the Home Hardware Novice Reps celebrated the birthday of Coach MacArthur and smiles gleamed all the way back to Kincardine.

Six hours of driving: one big headache; 3 consecutive losses: frustrating; two nights of mini-sticks and one movie: PRICELESS.
