The Home Hardware Novice Rep Hurricanes played a hefty schedule
The Home Hardware Novice Rep Hurricanes played a hefty schedule this week with 3 games.    On Wednesday the Hurricanes traveled to Bayfield to take on second place BCH. The  Hurricanes came out very slow giving up four early goals in the first; the team looked sluggish until Bryce McFadden picked up the pace and scored with 1:00 left in the first on a break away. One wasn’t enough for McFadden, he won the face of at centre, beat the defender to the outside and fired a wrister off the inside cross bar. The puck landed just over the goal line and the Hurricanes were back in it.

After being shell shocked in the first, goalie Jamie Brock received some encouragement from Coach Long and shut down BCH in the second. Down 4-2 into the third, Austyn McArthur picked up a pass from Emma Swift and raced by the BCH defense. With the goalie going down early McArthur fired the puck over the glove of the BCH goalie. Jacob Bishop assisted on the goal and the Hurricanes found themselves down one goal with 8 minutes left.

Justin Moulton and Brennan Long had chances to tie it up, but BCH added one more late in the third to go onto a 5-3 win.

On Saturday, the Home Hardware Hurricanes faced off against southern rivals Goderich Sailors.  Just one minute into the game Jake Colley sent a pass up to McFadden and he broke free from the Sailor defense. As fans have come used to seeing, McFadden sent a wrist shot blocker side in the top corner.

The game went back and forth, however, and the Sailors scored early in the second. With some great fore-checking, Christopher Coady helped Kendon Zettle put the Hurricanes in front 2-1 with a shot from in front of the net. On the next shift out, Zettle set up McFadden with his second of the game. Carson Stephenson and Travis Anderson were having great games on defense, pinning the Goderich Sailors deep in their own end.

The Sailors weren’t about to give up down 3-1 and scored back-to-back goals mid-way through the third. The teams scrambled to score the go ahead goal, but both goalies were using everything they could to stop the onslaught of pucks – including their heads! The game ended in an exciting 3-3 draw.

On Sunday the Hurricanes traveled to Listowel. This game also ended in a 3-3 tie. Goal scorers were unavailable at press time. The Hurricanes currently sit in third place in league standings
