Presto-Crest Wins Bracebridge Tourney!!!
Hats off to Scott McFarlan who not once but twice scored a hat trick in a weekend tournament in the picturesque town of Bracebridge!  The first game saw the Presto Crest AE Peewee team outscore Oro Township 4-2.

Aidan Calcutt opened the scoring batting an airborne puck into the net on a set up from McFarlan and Kaleb Brough.  McFarlan scored "the goal of the tournament" on a beautiful backhand after deking the Oro defense out of their jockstraps to put the locals up 2-0.  So mesmerized were the locals by Scotty's feat that Oro tied the game while the PC boys were still oohing and aahing.  McFarlan dazzled again on the backhand assisted by Braeden Morgan and Marshall Smith before capping the game with his third and final goal on a nice unassisted effort.

Game two saw the PC boys hosted by the Bracebridge Bears.  The PC team came out looking strong.   McFarlan intercepted a pass and opened the scoring on an unassisted goal. In the second period, Logan Shewfelt carried the puck in and assisted Brough who tipped the goal in during a goalmouth battle.  After a harried few minutes in the PC end with goalie Brad Liddle diving one way and another to cover the net, defenseman Joel Riggin passed to Brough who passed Austin Rees resulting in PC's third goal.  Two minutes later defenseman Evan Brown and forward Braeden Morgan set the hard working Sam Culmer up to chime one in.  The Bears never let up and their efforts were rewarded with a goal late in the third period.  The Presto Crest boys needed another goal to at least tie the period for points that would allow them to be a clear contender for the championship game and who better for the job than McFarlan  who netted his second of the game unassisted.  Presto Crest 5 - Bracebridge 1.

The tension was high in the Baysville arena when the Presto Crest team met the Oro Township team for the Championship game at 8:50 p.m.  Kincardine's McFarlan opened the scoring on a nice set by Rees at the midway point of the first period only to have Oro knot the game 2 minutes later.  On the ensuing face-off, Brent McDonald, found the net on a set up by Rees and Logan Shewfelt.  In the dying seconds of the first, Oro tallied once again tying the game heading into the second period.  The lone goal of the second period was notched by McFarlan on a set up by Riggin and Clint Parker.  Heading into the third, a goal up and Oro looking for the tie, McFarlan completed his hat trick to take the wind out of their sails.  The home town fans in attendance helped carry the boys to the win with their boisterous cheers, encouragement and instructions.  Champions, Presto Crest 4 , Oro Township 2.
