Co-operators take the win at home
The Co-operators took on the Ripley Wolves for the second time during playoffs Sunday morning.
After winning in their first playoff match up against Ripley, the Co-operators were hoping for a repeat performance. The first period saw the Co-operators doing a fantastic job of keeping the pressure in Ripley's end. Early in the first a hard shot by Connor went just wide and later a great effort by Matty was stopped by Ripley's goalie. The second period saw a great chance right away as Ryan made a stellar pass to Ariel that again was halted by Ripley's goalie. Just over five minutes into the period however, the Co-operators would get on the scoreboard as a long pass up the boards from Justin met the end of Ryan's stick and made it way into the net. Just over a minute later, Ryan landed his second goal of the evening thanks to a favorable pass from Dre. Five minutes into the third period, a short breakaway saw Ripley land a top shelf goal. The Co-operators, with the help of some fantastic defense by Julia and Dre, held onto their lead during the next nearly ten minutes of gameplay. With just over a minute remaining Ripley tied it up forcing the game into overtime. Overtime saw some nice attempts right away from Max and Ryan and a mere minute and fifteen seconds in, Max scored the winning goal leaving it 3-2 for the Co-Operators.
Way to go Co-operators on a well played game! Special congratulations go to player of the game and lunchbox recipient Julia for her awesome defensive play. Play of the game honours went to Tre for his great defense and Caleb for his forechecking.
