Girls Have a great weekend & played great hockey, going to Semi-Finals in Barrie
The Team Montgomery Midget girls went to Barrie this past weekend to enjoy their 1st tournament. After having a long 4 game weekend to suddenly end Sunday morning in a semi final. After a 3 hour drive Friday the team had a 1st game@ 1:00pm with the Sudbury Coyotes , who are in the top of their league,we started firing on all cylinders in the 3rd period to score to tie the game1-1 with 5 mins left & were able to maintain the tie . Games move thru quickly when period times are 10-10-12 in length. Players were on in the 2nd game vs Suddbury Hericanes @ 8:00pm friday night also , winning with a 4-0 score.
The team had a night at the motel , then next day of xmas shopping to put in & follow up the day with game # 3 @ 6:00pm Saturdau night vs Barrie Sharks blue, to only find out the arena lost power with a blown transformed, causing big delays & re shuflfing off all teams and players who were all waiting for about a hour, to only find out the game is now moved to a different rink surface 20 minutes away & you now play @ 8:45pm. Well this would have been a distraction somewhat, but once again we played extremely well, but couldnt score, and able to save a 0-0 tie. After this delayed event, the team wouldnt get back to their motel till 11:00pm . With check out to deal withearly morning @ 7:00am & get some food into the players, we were in the semi final vs. Barrie Sharks green ( who are also at tthe top of their own league ) @ 9:00am , to play in hopes to advance to the final at 5:00pm Sunday, but lost a great game of heart / effort / team spirit / determination / 5-3 with total sportsman like attitude & a few smiles to boot . In my opinion i feel our team could have went all the way, we came up against some good goalies this weekend same as our own .
