Green Machine Kick off 2014 with a big weekend!
The Novice HL Green Machine kicked off 2014 showing no ill-effects from the Christmas layoff whatsoever.

With the help of some extra ice time earlier in the week, courtesy of Jack and Chase Anderson, the Green Machine shook of the rust Saturday morning at the Davidson Centre and even with a short bench, skated away with an 8-4 victory over the equally short-handed Black Attack.

Jack Anderson, flashing the new goalie gear, was solid in net, while brother Chase led the offense with 5 goals, with Mitchell Hackett adding two of his own and Lucas Watson chipped in a single.

With just three of their regular defense corps in the lineup, everyone contributed to Coach Renaud’s number one rule of ‘protect the goalie’.  Terrific work turned in by Kaiden Ford and Dylan McKechnie kept the Black squad at bay en route to the first victory of 2014.

With the biggest snow storm in years brewing, the Saugeen Shores Storm blew into town Sunday morning for an exhibition tilt with the Green Squad.

A hard fought battle ensued, and despite some pretty tic-tac-toe passing by the visiting squad, which resulted in two highlight-reel goals, once again Jack Anderson stood tall in the net, and the Green Machine skated off with a 6-4 victory, in what was a very entertaining game.

Team Green hopes to continue their winning ways this weekend, when they have two games – Friday evening and Saturday morning.

See you at the rink!
