Kincardine Sobeys Peewee Girls B Team Bring Home Gold from Kitchener Fallfest Tournament
On November 21st, the Kincardine Sobeys Peewee B Girls Rep Team travelled to Kitchener to participate in the 21st Annual Kitchener Fallfest Tournament.

Game 1 was against the Flamborough Falcons and didn’t see action until the 2nd period when Georgia Tanner put one in from Aysha Machan and Emma Dixon.  Into the third period, Kincardine’s Heidi Allen followed by rocking the net from Claire Hunsburger and Lauren O’Hagan.  Lauren Thede, assisted by Lauren O’Hagan and Georgia Tanner, also put a point on the board to make it 3-0 for the Kinucks.  To finish the game, Aysha Machan took the puck coast to coast with 2:52 left and shook the twine for the 4-0 win over the Falcons.

Game 2 was against the Windsor Wildcats with the girls keeping their fans in suspense until the third period when Heidi Allen put one between the pipes with 5:44 left followed by Aysha Machan assisted from Georgia Tanner to give the girls a 2-0 win over the Wildcats and another shut out for goaltender Marcell'e Platt.

Game 3, on Saturday, was 6-0 win against the Kitchener Lady Rangers C Team and saw goals in the second period from Georgia Tanner (2) assisted from Machan, Emma Dixon (1) assisted from Tanner, Lauren O’Hagan (2) from Tanner and Hunsburger and Claire Hunsburger (1) from Joanne Page.  The third period remained uneventful as the Lady Rangers tried their luck.

The 4th Game against Grand River Mustangs, once again, kept the fans in suspense until the third period when Heidi Allen put a point on the board for the Kincardine Kinucks assisted by Tanner off a rebound shot.  Then Allen returned the favor passing to Tanner who put another point on the boards making it 2-0 for the Kinucks.  With the Mustangs goalie pulled, Kincardine’s Jessica Anderson, off a pass from Machan, finished the scoring for the 3-0 victory.

On Sunday morning, the Kinucks played game 5 for the gold medal against the Windsor Wildcats whom they previously played in game 2.  In the first period, Heidi Allen put a point on the board with 5:59 remaining to give the Kinucks a 1-0 lead.  The Wildcats were soon to answer back and into the second period snuck one past goaltender Platt to make it 1-1.  On the high from their goal, the Wildcats again scored the go ahead goal to make it 2-1 for our opponent.  With the pressure on and 46 seconds left in the second period, Kincardine’s Jessica Anderson rattled the twine to tie up the game.  Eleven minutes into the third of this nailbiter final, Georgia Tanner sent the puck home to give the Kinucks the go ahead goal and a 3-2 lead.  The action continued back and forth with fantastic forward play and great defensive moves with both goalies seeing the rubber.  Unfortunately time ran out for the Wildcats and the Kincardine Sobeys Peewee Girls B Team earned their gold medals which they proudly wore.  Congratulations girls!!!!

The Kinucks next games are Dec.  6th at Fergus Community Centre against Grand River and Dec. 7th when Grand River will travel to Kincardine’s Davidson Centre.
