Kincardine Sobeys Peewee Girls Rep team Override the Grand River Mustangs
On December 6th, the Kincardine Sobey’s Peewee Girls Rep Team were on the road to Fergus Community Centre to meet up with the Grand River Mustang, who they had previously met at the FallFest Tourney in Kitchener.

The first period had both teams ready to play and eager to eat the puck. With 4:30 left on the clock, Kinucks Heidi Allen backhanded the puck into the mesh, assisted by Claire Hunsburger and Lauren O’Hagan, giving Kincardine a 1-0 lead over the Mustangs. Then with 2:16 on the clock, Lauren O’Hagan off a pass from Hunsburger, put one in the net to make it 2-0 to finish the first period.

The second period saw lots of aggressive play but no points to be earned.

Into the third, the Kinucks wanted to prove a point and that they did...in fact they proved 6 points starting with Aysha Machan from Maddy Gallant, Georgia Tanner from Gallant, Paige McLelland from Tanner, Emma Dixon from Allen, Jessica Anderson from Machan and O’Hagan; and Claire Hunsburger from Thede and Gallant.

This gave the Kincardine Sobey’s Peewee Girls Rep Team an 8-0 win and another shut out earned for goal tender Marcell'e Platt, over the Grand River Mustangs.

On Sunday, the Grand River Mustangs, travelled to Kincardine to play a rematch against the Kinucks.

The Mustangs came to play their game as the on ice action seemed to be equally matched. With 3:39 left in the first, Aysha Machan swooped in and sniped a point unassisted to give the Kinucks a 1-0 lead. Machan’s wood was hot and a few minutes later she was able to put the puck to the twine again, assisted from Jessica Anderson and Georgia Tanner.

In the second period with less than a minute left, Kinucks Claire Hunsburger, put a point on the board assisted from Maddy Gallant and Lauren O’Hagan to give the Kinucks a 3-0 lead.

With both teams working the puck and showing their talent, the game seemed more competitively matched than Saturdays game.

Still determined, the Mustangs were able to grab the puck and sneak it past keeper Platt to make it 3-1

The Kinucks were able to hold the score and come out with the 3-1 victory. Next weekend's play is vs Vaughan in Tiverton @ 1:30pm on Saturday and on Sunday Kincardine Kinucks will travel to Caledon for 1pm.
