The Montgomery Ford Midget girls had a busy week this past week, with the posibility of 3 games, of which last Tuesday went to Lucknow and after arriving the Lucknow team had trouble finding referee's that night, so the game was cancelled and the Kincardine parents drove home in the snowy road conditions in dissappointment having known before hand. The team also had a 2nd game to be played on Thursday at the D/C and we had to wonder if we may not be able to get it in when then Zambonie stalled in the middle of flooding , however the arena staff were able to repair and get the job done with out much delay. The Kincardine girls were anxiuos to play and were not long getting off to a good start with scoring 2 goals a period and capitalizing there shifts to the point where almost every player recieved a point that night to added to team stats. The goalie Sofia Tomani with the recent purchase of her new goalie equipment wanted to try it out and break it in, this was a big step as all new equiment takes time to break in, this may have been the resiult of the 1 and only goal Tomani let in . The final score was 6-1 for the Kinucks.
The Ford girls had their final game of the week vs the Markdale shooting stars "B" team in the D/C sunday evening, knowing this would be our toughest challenge this season yet and as suspected they were as good as the coaching staff predicted ... The game was 1-0 for Markdale after the 1st period was over and we were out shot 2-1 with shots on net , the in the 2nd period the girls turned up the heat and play at both ends was split evenly , however Markdale scored their 2nd goal early in the period. The Ford girls with 1:34 left in the 2nd period had a good break out and passing play to score a goal, now entering the 3rd period only down by 1 ! Aftr the flood ,the Markdale team scored the 3rd goal 8 minutes left, as the Kinucks kept trying to get another goal , with 1 minute & 20 seconds left, Kincardine pulled the goalie and Markdale also picked up a penalty, we laid on some pressure and while executing the power play, we popped up a passing error and made a turnover for Markdale to score their 4th goal on a empty net, which finished the game as a loss 4-1. This 4th goal was the 1st time this season where a team has scored on us with less than a minute left in any period and the out come of the game was good experience as Markdale are very sportsman like players and well coached to play against. The Kincuks travel back to Markdale Dec 13th for another crack at them. Goals scored out of both games were by Georgia Fields- 2 , Lauren Jolley - 1 , Rainor Kuz -1 , Eden McFarlane -1 , Ashely McConnell -1 , Megan Stewary-Kemp -1 .
