Netzke/Kemp Midget hockey Christmas Classic
The Montgomery Ford Midget girls wind the season down with a game last Thursday over in Ayton to play the West Grey Warriors "C" team in a league game. The team had a good game for their last of 2014 part of the season leaving the team currently with a 16 / 5 record so far. The girls won the game vs West Grey 4-1 that evening. The team is having a fun season and now await the Xmas holiday break.

Before the Xmas though and a almost 2 week break ahead of us , my daughter Megan  asked me if we could have a joint practice with the Beisel Contracting Midget boy's A/E team on Monday night, which i aggreed sounded ok to me. We contact the coaching staff & came up with a idea for a fun evening. Dean Netzke & Gord Kemp decided on Monday night to set up a joint & co-ed game for both the boys and girls , dividing both teams evenly between forwards, defense and of course gender. We both teams had almost 3 full lines and a goalie each, teaming up boy/girl lines with wearing home & away jerseys . We called this event the Netzke/Kemp Midget hockey Christmas classic ! We as Coach Netzke formulated a plan to bring down Coach Kemp in a match of two 10 minute and one 15 minute period game over our regular practice ice time. Well the from the face off, Coach Kemp kept his lines fresh to try to acelerate quickly and get a early lead which seem to work! Both teams actually took this very serious and with all the mixed lines, both teams played extremely well, maybe even better than regualr season game play , lol . With 2 referees controlling the game and the time keeper this was a really fun exciting game and all players and coaches had a lot of fun. The game was close as Coach Kemps team was awarded a penalty shot in the 2nd game to score a extra goal, which give Kemp's  team a 4-2 victory over the Netzke group :) . All i could see on the bench that night was smiles, freindship and certainly both the boys and girls played very respectfull and sportsman like which impressed me thruout the night! It certainly is something that most wanted to do again another night and Coach Netzke may even make a trophy up for the next battle amongst these teenagers ! After the game was finished, all the players , coach's , trainers, and referee's gathered in front of the Home bench or ( winning bench ) for a group photo and on the count of 3 they all shouted out Merry Christmas to all & to all a good night !
