Ford girls try their best @ Silver stick and just short in points
This Past weekend was the annual Saugeen Shores Sliver stick tournament from Atom to intermidiate dividisions , being played in Paisley, Tiverton, Port Elgin and Southampton . The Ford girls started on Fri vs TCDMHA Chatsworth Rebels in Tiverton, the entire team roster were able to play htis weekend which was good . Well the team were fired up ready to go after pre game warmup, however the Rebels goal keeper was un-scoreable for the Kinucks, the team out shot the rebels 4-1 at least maybe more and the team played very hard, just couldnt score which we know does work to advance when playing in a tournement.

The team lost 2-1 and gave up a power play goal in the 2nd period for the lost. The tournament was set into dividsons and 4 teams per grouping giving each team 3 games each. Our next 2 games on Saturday almost meant they both had to be wins ! Well on Saturday morning in Southampton the girls played against Ilderton Jets , likely their toughest game ! Prior to the game the team were delighted to be visited in person by the new owner and his wife from Montgomery Ford ( our team sponsor ) Craig and Christi Beck. Prior to going on the ice Craig came into the dressing room for a small motivating speech for the girls and wished them luck, well we needed both in this game as the girls fought a battle on the ice for 35 minutes of play. Both teams were very even and have also played each other in prior year tournaments and have always had exciting , clean hockey games. After the 1st period was over te game was still scoreless and in the 2nd period Ilderton took a lead the Kinucks got down 2 goals by the 2nd period. Now there pressure was on with hopes of trying to at least tie minimum and really needed a win , well didnt the team get things going with a powerplay goal to start us and qith 5 minutes left the Kinucks scored a tieing goal ! We needed the win to be sure of moving on and we almost did this however the score stayed tied. Then later that night back in Tiverton the Kinucks played against the Milverton Royals who played in the "B" dividsion alll season and went thru the OWHA to be re-cat to a "C" team. No doubt our work was cut out and the girls came out on fire and played a wicked game to win 4-1 , however this win , tie and loss that we had was not enough to advance from the pool, Idlerton and TCDMHA went on to the finals with Idlerton winning this seasons Midget "C" silver stick. The girls will likely meet this Ilderton team again in all Ontario provincals in April privifing both team make it thru the playdowns games. Scoring goals this weekend were Daniel McBride -1 / Eden McFarlane -1 / Jorie Elliott -1 / Georgia Fields -1 / Hailey Woods -1 / Megan Stewart-Kemp -2
