Novice Kinucks - Seaforth Tournament Finalists
The Home Hardware sponsored Kincardine Novice Kinucks would take another step forward in their hockey season. This time the Kinucks would make it to the tournament final, only to be edged out by a strong BCH Ice Dogs.

Starting the tournament on the Friday night, Kincardine would be short of one forward. Jack Charbonneau would be focusing on his acting skills, on this particular night, with his part in a local Peter Pan production. His team mates were hopeful that their colleague would bring some Neverland magic with him, when he returned for the remainder of the tournament!

The Kinucks would manage just fine in game one. Headcoach Art Houghton seemed to have created a 'speed line' of Drake, Graham, McDonald, Lyndon and McQuillin.

The onlooking crowd commented that Art Houghton also had the 'bash' line with the physically intimidating Carnell, Beddington, Houghton, Cuyler, Kaminski and Fletcher! Ironically, it would be members of the speed line that would collect all the penalties, with Carter Drake and Jordan McDonald being the guilty parties! Jordan McDonald, in fact, may be making a run for the overall penalty minute leader!

The Kinucks would claim a 7-1 win over South Bruce with goals being attributed to Trent Houghton, Ty McQuillin (2 goals), Ethan Kaminski (1+1), Joshua Cuyler, Jordan McDonald and Zak Fletcher (1+1). Fletcher was pleasantly surprised to find out that it's not just penalty minutes that get your name on the gamesheet! If the imposing figure of Jordan McDonald is going to be crowned penalty minute leader, then it's only Zak Fletcher that he'll have to fend off, to grab that title!!

The Kinucks would make their way through to the final having lost 6-3 to BCH, they'd claim their spot with a 5-3 victory over the hosts Seaforth. Trent Houghton would lead the way with a contribution of 3+1. The impressive trio of  Ty McQuillan, Joshua Cuyler and Jack Charbonneau would all contribute assists. The remaining goals came from Jordan McDonald and Zak Fletcher, whom were obviously taking time out from their penalty minute leadership battle! On that very subject, it maybe should be mentioned that Beckett Graham managed to get himself three separate visits to the penalty box in the BCH game. This has now coined a new team phrase, "you've been Grahamed!"

Unfortunately, the Kinucks would lose out 2-1 in a hard fought final game against the BCH Ice Dogs. Headcoach Art Houghton was very pleased with the effort, telling the kids that you really can't ask for more than that.
