Sobey’s PW Girls 'Ace' Stratford Tourney
On November 14th, the Sobey’s PW girls rep hockey team participated in their first tourney of the season with a road trip to Stratford.

The girls kept the crowd in suspense during their first game against Stratford, with the action beginning in the second period, when Victoria Krulicki put one between the pipes, assisted by teammates, Jessica Satosek and Vanessa Hodgins.  With less than three minutes left in the second period, Cassidy Colhoun collected the puck off a precision pass from Mikhayla Bowes, skating coast to coast and sinking it top shelf to give the girls a 2-0 lead.  Stratford gave the girls a third point off a reflected pass, but made up for it later when they snuck one past goal keeper supreme, Morgan Baker.  Final score 3-1 win for Kincardine.

Game two was played on November 15th, with Walkerton dominating over Kincardine with a 3-0 win.

After a few hours to rest and regroup, the girls went on to challenge Woodstock.  Although Woodstock began the scoring action, Kincardine’s Hailey “Hawk” Allen put her mind to the twine…as well as the puck ending the first period with a 1-1 tie.  The excitement continued to escalate into the second period, when the “Hawk” Allen flew in and played one off the pipes to reflect into the mesh giving the Sobey’s girls a 2-1 lead.  The girls continued to play strong finishing the game with a win and forwarding them on to the semi finals on Sunday against Tillsonburg.

With things looking tough after a 1-0 lead by Tillsonburg, the girls became hungry for the puck and for the win.  Victoria Krulicki brought the team some relief in the second by evening the score with the help from teammates Colhoun and Allen.  Mikhayla Bowes skillfully finished the game with less than five minutes left in the third giving the girls a 2-1 win to forward to the finals.

Once again, the girls were facing their Walkerton opponents, this time for the championship title.  With both teams focused and working hard, the girls proved to be evenly matched with a 0-0 score ending the third and taking the game to a four-on-four five minute OT period.  With time running out, the “Hawk” Allen swooped in and buried the puck into the net to give the girls a 1-0 sweet victory and earn them the Stratford Aces Tourney Championship title.

Dynamite defensive work by Laura Mangotich, Dakota Smith, Maddie Duncan and Nicole McLeod  with outstanding goal keeping from Morgan Baker.

Way to go team!!!!
