Sobeys Peewee Girls Finalists at Silver Stick
The Sobeys Peewee Girls came close to capturing an International Silver Stick Championship on the weekend in Sarnia, but lost in the finals, 1-0 to local rival, Walkerton.

Both local teams made it to the finals by finishing 1st in their respective pools and then winning their semi-final games.  Kincardine beat Clarington (1-0), Woolwich (2-1) and Lakeshore (6-3) to make it to the Semi-Finals.  Goals in the round-robin were scored by Vanessa Hodgins (2), Hailey Allen (4) and Victoria Krulicki (3).  Morgan Baker earned the shutout in the first game against Clarington.

Early Sunday morning in the Semi-Final, the girls played perhaps their best game of the tournament, downing Oakville 5-2 on goals by Mikhayla Bowes, Jessica Satosek, Allen and Krulicki (2).  Assists went to Maddie Duncan, Lauren Jolley, Dakota Smith and Cassidy Colhoun.  Laura Mangotich stood tall on defence, steering Oakville Hornets away from the Kincardine net.  Nicole McLeod did double duty, patrolling the blue line and taking the odd shift on wing.  Sunday at noon, Kincardine took on Walkerton in the final.  Neither team could muster much offence after 5 games each on the weekend, but Walkerton prevailed with the only goal of the game.

Congratulations girls on successful tournament and good luck this month with Provincial Playdowns.
