Kincardine Novice LL Team #1 Breaks Team #4’s Winning Streak
January 15th will be a game for both Kincardine Novice LL #1 and LL #4 to remember.
The match between the two teams began in the first period with Team #1’s Owen Thorn, taking a pass from defenceman Dakota Condie, on a rush to the net to bury the rubber giving their team a 1-0 advantage. Team #4 soon retaliated before the period was over with Noah Swann sinking a sick goal top shelf to even things up 1-1. The pressure was on for Team #1, who had lost and tied but never earned a win over Team #4, who had never suffered a loss. The second period had both teams working hard for the puck and both keepers on their toes, as many shots were fired on net and scrums were silenced by covering the puck and the magic of the goalie glove and pads. Midway through the third period, Team #1’s Heidi Allen was fed the puck from defencemen Kayne Lee and Jared Petrie. With her mind to the twine, Allen melted the ice with her speed and drove the puck home to give Team #1 the lead once again. Team #1 had the crowd and their coaches going crazy to try to hold this lead and to put an end to Team #4’s winning streak. As the clock ran down, Team #4 finally ran out of time and suffered their first loss, while Team #1 celebrated a 2-1 long awaited victory.
