HOME HARDWARE KINUCKS FINALISTS AT 28th ANNUAL NORTH AMERICAN INTERNATIONALSILVER STICK TOURNAMENT

The Kinucks headed for St. Clair Michigan on Thursday for the International Silver Stick tournament.  The team played there first game on Friday at noon vs the Strathroy Jr. Rockets.  The Kinucks would earn themselves a well deserved 5-3 victory with an empty net goal.  Goal scorers were Jordan Beisel with the hat trick (3), Heidi Allen, and Jordan Moulton.  Assists went to Wilson Shipp (3), Allen (2), Nolan MacKinnon, and Moulton.  Jared Petrie was solid between the pipes.  The Kinucks would spend the rest of the day by the pool, and then early to bed to prepared for a 8AM game against theTwin Centre Stars.  (A team that has not lost all year!)

The Kinucks would come out flying and have a 2-1 lead after the first period, and then be up 3-2 heading to the final frame.  This game was probably the best game the Kinucks would play the whole tournament attempting to give Twin Centre there first loss of the season, however the determination of Twin Centre allowed them to score two goals (16 seconds apart) midway through the final period to take the game 4-3.  Goal scorers were Shipp, Beisel, and Moulton.  Getting assists on the goals were Moulton and Shipp.

The team would head back to the hotel to regroup for game three at 4:30 vs the Detroit Devils.  The Kinucks had a somewhat slow start but finished the game with a 9-1 victory.  Beisel led the way with 5 goals, Moulton (2), MacKinnon and Shipp would close out the goal scoring.  Assists went to Moulton (3), Shipp (2), and Darcy Scott.  With the victory the Kinucks had earned a trip to the semi final game and would play the Mt. Brydges Cougars at 8AM on Sunday morning.  The scouting report on the Cougars was they had a very stron goaltender, however Ryan Wheeler was up to the challenge and made numerous saves to allow the Kinucks to win 2-0 with an empty net goal.  The empty net goal was a big goal as it allowed the Kincardine fans an opportunity to breath!  And not only that, it was the 100th point of the season of Jordan Moulton.  Congratulations Jordan!!  The game winning goal was scored by Shipp, assisted by moulton, and Beisel.

The kinucks would soon learn that in order to win the international Sliver Stick they would have to beat Twin Cnetre in the Championship game at 1:30pm Sunday afternoon.  The Kinucks came out strong and Beisel couldn't convert a breakaway attempt early in the first.  The Kinucks had a horrific final two minutes of the first period giving up three goals.  Three of the strangest goals scored all weekend, with funny bounce after funny bounce (with the blue pucks used in the International tournament).  Moulton would get the Kinucks on the board with the loan assist going to Mitch Pyke.  Twin Centre would enter the third period with a 5-2 lead.  MacKinnon would score the second goal ( short handed) on a set up by Beisel.  The Kinucks were determined to not go away quietly as they got to within two goals on a goal by Shipp (shorthanded), assisted by Beisel.  However it was not meant to be as Twin Centre would answer with goals of there own to win the game 7-4.  The fourth Kinucks goal was scored by Beisel and Shipp would get the loan assist.

Congradulations to the Twin Centre Stars being crowned the International Silver Stick "B" dividsion champs.  A great hockey team with good coaches and excellent fans, a real treat to play against!

Jordan Beisel was named the MVP from the Kinucks!  However the whole team had an MVP type of weekend!  Congratulations to all Players, you represented Kincardine Minor Hockey, and the town of Kincardine very well.  Your team sponsor (Home Hardware), your parents and the coaching staff are very pround of your accomplishments over the past three days!
