KINCARDINE NOVICE KINUCKS HAVE BUSY WEEK

On Thursday evening the Kincardine novices hosted the Mitchell Meteors in the Twolan Cup best of five championship series.  This was game one of which promises to be a great series.  The Kinucks would strike first on a rebound goal put in by Cody McLelland, the loan assist went to Jordan Moulton.  The Kinucks would take the lead into the third period.  However Mitchell was very determined and would strike twice by the midway point of the third to take the lead.  Kincardine would tie it on a goal by Jordan Beisel, also set up by Moulton.  Mitchell would control the majority of the play in the late stages and ended up scoring the eventual winning goal, and striking first in the best of five series.  Game two of the series will be played Tuesday, March 20th in Mitchell at 6:20pm.

On Sunday the team travelled to Listowel to participate in the Gordy Hymers novice tournament.  The Kinucks would play Walkerton in game one and skated away with a 2-0 victory.  Goals were scored by Wilson Shipp, and Beisel.  Assists went to Heidi Allen, Beisel, and Moulton.  Earning the shutout in net were Ryan Wheeler, and Jared Petrie.  Game two was at noon against a fresh Tillsonburg Tornadoes team who were playing there first game of the tournament.  Tillsonburg would lead 2-0 after the first period.  The Kinucks came out strong in the second and were very determined to get themselves back into the game.  They would trail 4-3 entering the final period.  Scoring in the second period were Moulton (2), and Shipp.  Assists were given to Beisel, Moulton, and Shipp.  The Kinucks tried there best to tie it in the third but could not find the back of the net, Tillsonburg would add an empty net goal to take the game 5-3

This would put the Kinucks in the "B" finals against a very familar opponent, the minto Mad Dogs.  But before this game would take place the kinucks had two players take part in the skills competion, which was a shootout, one shooter and a goalie.  the Kinucks were very excited to watch and cheer on snipper jordan moulton, and goaltender Ryan Wheeler.  The stands at the Listowel arena were next to full to watch this exciting event.  The Kinuck kids would go on to win both categories!  Moulton would score the most goals and Wheeler was the goaltender who made the most saves.  Congradulations to both of you, your fans, teammates and coaches are very pround of you!

Now onto the "B" championship game verus minto.  The Kinucks would score early and often and skate to a convincing 9-2 victory.  Goals were scored by Shipp (3), Beisel (2), Nolan NacKinnion (2), Moulton and Darcy Scott.  Assists went to Owen Thorn (3), Moulton (3), Scott (2), Noah Swann (2), Allen (2), McLelland and MacKinnon.

The tournament convenor would select a "player of the game" award for each of the three games played.  Moulton, shipp and Scott were the recipients of this award.  Congradulations to all players on a very successful and entertaining day of hockey!
