NOVICE KINUCKS TAKE GAME ONE OF PLAYOFFS VERSUS SAUGEEN SHORES

The Kincardine Home Hardware novice rep team headed to Port Elgin to take on the Saugeen Shores Storm in game one of the best of three series on Saturday afternoon.  The Kinucks knew going in that it would be a real challenge as all three games during the regular season were very close.  The Kinucks came out slow and looked a little disoriented in the first period, spending the majority of the period in there own end.  The only good thing was that the score remaind 0-0 after one period.  In the second the Storm finally got rewarded for there hard work and took a 1-0 lead heading into the third period.  This was unfamiliar territory for the Kinucks as they hadn't trailed in a game heading into the final frame in some time.  It was an opportunity for the team to show there character.  The Kinucks started to play there game and put a better effort forward, and at the 9:11 mark of the third period they tied the game at 1-1.  Opening the scoring for the Kinucks was Jordan Beisel, set up by Jordan Moulton.  Three minutes later Beisel scored again from Cody McLelland to give the Kinucks there first lead of the game.  With 4 minutes to play the Storm took a penalty and this was the opportunity for the Kinucks to go up 2 goals on the scoreboard.  Following a time out called by Kincardine, Beisel completed the hat trick with a power play strike, on a great set up by Moulton.  The Kinucks would hold on and take game one in the best of 3 series by a score of 3-1.  Ryan Wheeler played the whole game and picked up his first career play off win!  Game two of the series goes Saturday, February 25th in Tiverton at 1:30PM, and if required game three goes Sunday, February 26th in Kincardine at 3:30PM.  Be sure to come out and cheer on your Kinucks this weekend, as they look to advance into the semi-final series!
