Novice Team #2 opens season with loss!!
Novice HL#2 @ Novice HL #1 ,October 22nd, 2011.
The 2011/12 season kicked off at the Davidson Centre this weekend, but Team#1 was able to come away with the victory.
Team #2 seemed a little surprised at the early speed and play of team #1 and quickly surrendered 2 goals in the first 3 minutes of play. This was answered by a lone goal at the mid-way mark of the first by Mack Beisel, unassisted. Any momentum that Team #2 generated from that goal was quickly lost as Team#1 scored 2 goals 25 seconds apart to end the first period up 4-1.
The 2nd period was much like the first seeing Team #2 score a great goal by Cam Fletcher, assisted by Emilio Colley-Aquino, sandwiched between 2 Team #1 goals, the first early in the period and the latter with only 2 seconds left, Team #2 now trailed 6-2.
The coaching staff informed the players on Team #2 to intensify the pressure and to keep their legs moving, which the players in black responded too well and picked up their play. With no goals scored by either side in the last frame, the final buzzer sounded and Team #2 went down in defeat to Team#1, with a final score of 6-2.
The coach of Team #2 was glad to see the team improve as the game progressed and encouraged the players to bring the effort shown in the 3rd period to the next practice and to be ready for Team #4 next Sat.
