Kincardine Green in NHL Season Opener
It was an early start for the much anticipated Novice House League season opener. The Novice Green and Red teams took to the ice while an expectant crowd watched on, for what would turn out to be a closely fought contest, between two hard skating teams.

The Green team would have to manage without their Head coach Bob Richards, but they would provide a display that he'd be proud of.

Both teams would put in hardworking performances and it should be mentioned that the respective goalies, Jordan Wall and Aaron Urie, put in spectacular displays that made this game such a low scoring event. The low scoring certainly wasn't as a result of a lack of offensive talent. Both Abby Boulton, Harley Trudeau and Carter Drake would provide plenty of offensive threat for the red team to be concerned about. However, they'd find Jordan Wall to be in fine form between the pipes. Boulton, Trudeau and Drake would regularly feed off the hard forechecking provided by Mitchell Desmond, Addyson Richards, Ty Ferguson and Rachel Rumbold. Unfortunately, no break through would materialize.

The red team were able to get the decisive goal when Josh Flood was finally able to beat the outstanding Aaron Urie, in the Green net. Breaking through the solid defensive line of Zak Fletcher and Bruce Aranjo, Flood would claim the game winning goal.

This was a very evenly fought game that could have gone either way, so the Green's should not be too disheartened at this early stage in the season. An excellent effort by all from a team that were very busy throughout, a hard working group that just missed out on having that final sting in their tail, that could've claimed this game to be theirs.. We'll see how they progress and what this group want to do going forward, but I personally believe that we could've seen the beginning of the Kincardine Green Hornets!!
