Exh Games 13&14 - Dec 16-17 vs Walkerton Capitals and Saugeen Shores Storm
The fun and excitement doesn’t stop for the Kincardine Kinucks Novice C Girls.  Another wonderful weekend of hockey, and perhaps a bit of Christmas Cheer.  The Girls had an opportunity to host the Walkerton Capitals on Saturday and then on Sunday to travel to play against the Saugeen Shores Storm.

Saturday’s game was a tough one.  Despite having a short bench, the Walkerton Capitals were full of energy and strong defensive play.  The Kinucks were ready, however, and worked their skills at planning and executing plays.  In the first period, Gracey MacIntosh was first to put one in the net with an assist from Sadie White.  The Capitals responded soon after on a breakaway.  With seconds left in the first, Jaelyn Price - positioned perfectly in front of the net – placed the Kinucks’ second goal of the game.

In the second, energy remaining high for both sides, Avery Boulton weaved through a line of Capitals early on and scored on a breakaway.  The period saw a ton of action back and forth, with the Kinucks Defense skating hard to stop advances by the Capitals.  Ava Hogan wouldn’t give up in her efforts at any time, successfully driving the puck back to her teammates from the ground after a spill.  Well done, Ava!    Toward the end of the second, Aera Armstrong skillfully passed up to Avery Boulton to score the Kinucks’ 4th game goal.  The Capitals were close behind with second left in the period to bring the score to 4:2.

In the third, despite a short line, the Capitals showed no signs of tiring and the game continued with a ton of energy and determination.  The Kinucks saw one final goal in the period early on by Sadie White on a breakaway.  This game writeup cannot end without a special shout out to Reide Searle for her work in net.  Reide had an extremely busy game and made some very exciting saves and plays for the team.  WOW!

Fantastic game, Kinucks!  Way to work!  This was such a fun game to watch.

Final score – 5:2.

Sunday’s game had the Girls travel to the Plex for a game against the Saugeen Shores Storm.  The Girls were tested on teamwork in this game with line and positional changes.

In the first, Sadie White placed the first foal of the game on her own rebound.  The Storm brought the game to a tie in this period on a very fast breakaway.

The second period saw the Kinucks on a streak with goals by Gracie MacIntosh assisted by Lilah Rock and Avery Boulton, then by Lilah Rock on a breakaway.  Sadie White found the net on a breakaway, then Avery Boulton scored assisted by Lilah Rock.  MacIntosh placed another assisted by Boulton and Rock, then Boulton scored again assisted by Marley Adams.   Lilah Rock placed another assisted by MacIntosh, and then White placed the final period goal on a breakaway.

In the third, Lilly O’Handley scored the final Kinuck goal on a breakaway.  The Storm would ring one final goal in the game to bring the final score to 10:2.

After the game on Sunday, the Team gathered for some Christmas Cheer.  A great time was had by all!   Does anyone want any pizza?  Anyone??  ……..Bueller?  …….Bueller??
