Exh Game 15- December 23 at Owen Sound Ice Hawks
December 23rd, with visions of Santa, presents, and a two-week break from school dancing in our little Sugar-Plum’s heads, the Girls visited the Owen Sound Ice Hawks for one final game before family holiday celebrations began.

As always, the Girls provided Fans with plenty of action.  Of noteworthy mention was the Girls’ attention to back-checking where a number of successful passes and plays kept the game working well in the Kinucks’ favour.  The first period would conclude without a goal, but it wasn’t without merit.  Forwards, Defence, and Goal all worked to advance plays in the Hawks’ end, and to defend the crease when the play found it’s way to the Kinucks’ end.

In the second period the Girls continued with high energy.  Well-timed passes and well played line changes had the Kinucks maintain their strength and positioning.  In this period, Kinucks Winger Lilah Rock scored on a breakaway for the Kinucks to start the scoreboard.  Wow!  Lilah was at the ready to assist her team, even bringing a bit of atypical aggression to her play with a defensive block on what could have been an aggressive shot on net.  Lilah, we can always see your Dad coming out in you with your stealthy skating, your ambition, and your heart coming out in each game.  I think we saw a bit of your mum come out in this one, though!

The Girls continued to work in the third to hold the zone as Coaches kept the lines fresh.  A few minutes in, the Kinucks broke the tension of the tight game by scoring on the Hawks with Sadie White passing from behind the net to Gracie MacIntosh, well positioned to catch the pass and scoring for the Kinucks.  The Hawks found the net only one time during this game in the third period – it wasn’t due to lack of effort, however, as the Hawks had several shots on net.  Interim Goalie Reide Searle kept the puck in play and blocked when necessary to maintain the momentum the Team was working for.

What a way to start off the holidays, Kinucks!   Players and Coaching Staff alike, you’re working so well together as a team.   Way to SUPPORT!

Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays.  May your stockings, your bellies, and your homes all be full.  See you soon!

Final score: 2:1
