On Saturday, the Girls had another opportunity to work for a
win against the mighty TCDMHA Rebels in Desboro.
The Girls worked their skills in passing, and back checking with energy high. The Rebels would be the first to put one in the net, but the Kinucks kept it together. Before the period ended, Aera Armstrong picked up an assist from Lilah Rock to bring the score to a tie!
In the second period, the Girls continued in their efforts to keep control over the play. Reminiscent of the first, the Rebels scored early on, and the Kinucks persisted. Before the period ended, Avery Boulton picked up an assist from Marley Adams to bring the board back to a tie. WOW!
The third period is where we have seen the Rebels advantage with tremendous endurance on the ice. The Girls have taken note, and their strength on the ice is building. Avery Boulton picked up an assist from Ava Hogan half-way through the third with the Rebels close behind to maintain a tie. Moments later, Boulton scored on a breakaway to earn herself a hat-trick in this game, and before the final buzzer, Brette Stewart scored on a breakaway!
It’s a win for the Kinucks! Such an exciting game, Girls! Way to go!
This was such a fun game to watch. Teamwork was outstanding and accolades were flying in post-game celebrations. Of notable mention in this game were performances by Dorothy Trudeau on Defence for her exceptional speed and deflections; Winger Reide Searle for reading the game and digging at the boards, and Lilly O’Handley on Defense for her assertive game-play in the corners.
