Kincardine Kinuks vs. Saugeen Shores - Jan. 7th, 2009
Written by NeShemah Sharp

In full attendance on Wednesday night, the Kincardine Kinucks took the ice against Saugeen Shores. Ben made a strong attempt on net, right from the face off, early in the 1st period. Unfortunately, S.S. came back and scored the first goal. There was a great setup for Danny by Craig; but the shot went high. Ethan Long received a penalty for body contact. And even on a power play, S.S. was not able to get one by Ethan Primeau.

Rhys, Craig, and Raven took turns going the distance carrying the puck from one end to the other. And there was great passing on both lines. However, the 2nd goal was scored with less than a minute left in the first. And with the attempt to interfere, Raven got a penalty for slashing. In the second period; one came out of the penalty box and another went in, as Ben took a penalty for tripping. Shortly after, Saugeen Shores scored the 3rd goal.

Successful clearing of the puck by Kurt, Owen, and Gavin made it possible for more scoring opportunities which were taken advantage of by Ethan L. and Brett B. as they assisted in the Kinucks 1st goal scored by Ben with only minutes left in the second period!

The defence was hard at work with interceptions made by Jacob, Skinner, and Ben; Raven... the whole team took part! But Ethan Primeau had his work cut out for him, and though he cupped a few great saves, the shots kept coming bringing the score to 6 – 1 for Saugeen Shores.

Kincardine Kinucks’ Brett Colhoun and Bradley shuffled about to get into the action as they worked hard at keeping the puck in our possession. With great intentions, and two more goals scored by Brett B. with help from Rhys, and by Danny with the assistance from Craig and Gavin in the last minute of the game; the final score was 8 – 3 for Saugeen Shores.
