Shut Out for the Kincardine Komets
It was still dark out when the Scotia Bank Kincardine Komets and Novice House League 1 made their way to the Davidson Centre to face off early in the morning on Saturday, October 30. Stifled yawns quickly turned into excitement as the team made their way onto the ice.

First period saw lots of activity but no goals. There was great passing from Reilly Colhoun to Cale Gibson to get the puck out of the zone. Cale had a shot on net. Noah Page provided some good defence. Mitchell Pyke skated the puck down and cleared it several times. Noah McArthur hit the puck away at the last minute from a breakaway that almost saw the Komets scored on. Jacob Sylvester did a great job keeping the puck in our zone. There were several close calls but no goals.

Second period is when the game came alive. The Komets started applying pressure on LL1. Joanne Page had several great shots on net, Mitch had a breakaway and a couple of shots on net but the score finally changed when Noah Page grabbed the puck, passed it up to Cale Gibson who sent it under Rose Pande’s pads. The puck stopped short just past the goal line. The Kincardine Komets had scored!

During the third period, the Komets maintained great defence, despite a couple of close calls. Bailey Pierson and Caydence Gibson both skated hard and Nathan Williams, our tireless goalie, had more saves. The fans held their breath as LL1 brought the puck down and shot on our net. There was a collective sigh of relief as the puck slid just wide of the goalposts. The score would stay as is: 1-0 for the Komets. Excellent puck handling and skating goes to Cale Gibson and the hustlers of the game were Mitchell Pyke and Reilly Colhoun. Both teams played well.
